Sunny pre-wedding Photoshoot at The Hub
As a Scottish Wedding photographer I always look forward to visiting the great variety of wedding venues Scotland has to offer, especially when I haven’t shot there before. Victoria and Jon’s wedding was going to be held at The Hub, Edinburgh’s historic old church at the top of The Royal Mile, near The Castle Esplanade. We were lucky to meet up there for their pre-wedding photoshoot. What a fantastic venue, the lighting space and decor is stunning and makes for great colourful images. As it was a stunning sunny day we concentrated on using the balcony with it’s views over the Pentland Hills and George Heriots school.
It is not easy at the start of your pre-wedding shoot. Usually we have only met once before to see if you like (*in no particular order), me, my images and the package! Then you get a camera pointed at you and you are not really sure how to react……that’s why it takes time, a lot longer than you normally have on your wedding day. We need to take time on the pre-wedding photoshoot to see what kind of images you both like and how best to go about getting them. It is, by it’s very nature a completely contrived situation, clearly, you haven’t just got married and therefore the euphoria and happiness that you’ll feel on your wedding day isn’t there. What we usually find in almost every case, is that the couple relax visibly as the shoot progresses and after about 30mins everyone is relaxed and happy in front of the camera; after all this is supposed to be a fun part of the day!
It was pretty evident early on in the pre-wedding photoshoot that Victoria and Jon were a pretty laid back couple. It didn’t take them long to get replaced in front of the camera; here are some images from the day. The full set of wedding photos from The Hub, Edinburgh can be viewed on my clients gallery please contact Victoria and Jon for the password..
Having a pre-wedding photoshoot is crucial to help you relax on your wedding day. Most people are not used to being the centre of attention and having a camera pointed at them all day long!
If you can, having the pre-wedding photoshoot in your wedding venue lets us discover the best locations for your wedding photos. It also helps us plan how best to maximise the time to create stunning wedding photos that will help you remember the day for years to come. All of my clients who have chosen to have a pre-wedding photoshoot have said how much it helped on the day.
