A wedding at The Principal Edinburgh Hotel with Christine and Ewan
Christine and Ewan met in September 2008 as they both travelled across North America by train. Christine boarded ‘The Canadian’ in Winnipeg, whereas Ewan had been on since Toronto, and they travelled through to Jasper together. The pair of them hit it off right away and kept in touch, meeting up again in Vancouver. They kept in touch and saw each other from time to time, but in February 2012 Ewan went to visit Christine in the Netherlands, he felt things had changed, he decided to ask her out and to his surprise, she said no! Afterwards they continued to keep in touch but more frequently, and in July Christine came to Scotland. Ewan asked her out again and she said yes!
They kept up the long distance relationship between Glasgow and Utrecht, with time also spent on holiday together and in Switzerland, usually seeing each other every three weeks or so. And then March 2014, Christine moved to Edinburgh to start her Post Doc. Ewan moved through to Edinburgh in May and on 20th December 2014 Ewan proposed to Christine on the Gornergrat in Switzerland, just after the sun had set behind the Matterhorn.
The kilts that the groomsmen and Ewan are wearing are in a tartan designed by Christine and Ewan and Christine will be using the same for her evening dress.
Ewan’s ring is a blend of Scottish and Swiss gold and Christine’s is two bands of gold, one Scottish and one Swiss.
